Artist Nest
Artist Nest, which originated from Dancers’ Nest in 2018, is a dancer training program jointly developed by Dance House Kogan 4422 in Japan, FCD: Dance Company and New Dance for Asia - NDA International Dance Festival in South Korea, Stella & Artists in Macau. Each of the three regions hosts its own Dancers’ Nest, which ultimately brings together dancers from each region for a performance in South Korea.
One of the instructors of Dancers’ Nest is Alessio Silvestrin, a renowned Italian choreographer based in Japan. He joined the Frankfurt Ballet in 1999 and has since been a guest artist with the Forsythe Dance Company, participating in the choreography and performances of world-renowned choreographer William Forsythe. Since 2003, he has been a residency artist in Japan. His commissioned collaborations include with the Paris Opera Ballet, Aichi Art Center, YCAM, Noism Dance Company, the New National Theatre, the Cerulean Tower Noh Theatre and the Venice Biennale Dance.
In addition to training dancers, this program also aims to enrich the experience of instructors in the three locations, thereby improving their teaching.
In 2019, with the support of the Science Festival in Daejeon, South Korea, Dancers’ Nest was renamed Artist Nest, focusing on dance X technology. This allows dancers and choreographers from the three participating regions to collaborate on creating dance works that integrate different scientific technologies, exploring more possibilities in dance choreography.
