Mission and Vision
Founded in 2012, Stella & Artists (SA) is a contemporary dance company in Macao which aims to promote the development of dance arts in Macao, actively engages in local dance education while fostering cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation between Macao and foreign countries. Through collaborations with different dancers and artists from around the world, SA actively takes inspirations from our daily lives and incorporating them into creation of diverse dance works.
Since its establishment, SA has been active in international cultural exchange activities. From 2013 to 2017, it organized Macao dancers to participate in UnityGate's teaching and creative performance activities in Lisbon, Portugal annually. From 2016 to 2018, it participated in the "Delta Moves ─ Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Modern Dance Alliance" international exchange program, organizing Macao dancers to participate in internationale tanzmesse nrw in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the Performing Arts Market in Seoul (PAMS). In 2017, it became the Macao station of "China Dance Courier Stations Network", working with over 50 cities and 86 stations across China to promote the development of modern dance in China. In addition, the company has organized performances and exchanges for its members and Macao dancers in Brisbane, Australia; Tokyo, Yokohama and Saitama, Japan; Seoul, Daejeon and Daegu, South Korea; Beijing, Jinan, Guizhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Hong Kong, China.
In order to promote the development of dance in Macao, Stella & Artists (SA) has hosted the “Solos/Duets Showcase” annually since 2013 to encourage local creations. In 2017, the showcase expanded into the "Macao CDE Springboard", becoming a platform for bringing Macao dance works to the international stage. SA is also dedicated to dance production, collaborating with outstanding artists and dance companies from abroad to elevate the level of local dance production and dancers. SA has collaborated with Xing Liang, Mui Cheuk In (Hong Kong), Ku Ming-Shen (Taiwan), Ergao (Guangzhou), Nir de Volff (Germany), Amalgama Dance Company (Portugal), and Dancecology (Taiwan). SA also actively participates in local arts and cultural events, having been commissioned by the Macao Arts Festival in 2014, 2022, and 2023 to create Revival, Vaster Far than the Ocean, and Club Loneliness respectively. Over the years, it has been invited to participate in local arts festivals and events such as the Macao City Fringe Festival, International Youth Dance Festival, and the Macao International Parade.
