UnityGate

The UnityGate project, initiated in 2011 by the Portuguese company Amalgama Dance Company, aims to establish a platform for cultural and artistic exchange between East and West. Through creative performances, workshops, exhibitions, and showcases, participating artists exchange ideas and enrich each other's experiences, while simultaneously raising artistic standards and promoting the popularization of art.

From 2013 to 2017, Stella & Artists collaborated with the Dancer Studio Macao and Ieng Chi Dance Association, organizing Macao dancers to participate annually in UnityGate's teaching and creative performance activities in Lisbon, Portugal. This included co-organizing workshops with the Portuguese National Academy of Dance and the University of Lisbon in Chinese dance, jazz, hip hop and urban dance, providing Macao instructors with richer teaching experience and promoting Chinese dance and culture to local young people.

In terms of performances, the Macao team frequently presents original dance performances incorporating elements of Chinese ethnic dance to Portuguese audiences, promoting original Macao dance works. Macao dancers who have participated in the project stated that participating in UnityGate has given them the opportunity to exchange and collaborate with dancers from different regions, allowing them to try different performance styles and gain valuable experience. It is hoped that more Macao dancers can broaden their horizons through this exchange program and develop more possibilities on their dance journey. On the other hand, "UnityGate in Macao" often presents Macao audiences with art performances that combine different elements such as dance, music and installation art, encouraging audiences to experience and explore contemporary culture and art from multiple perspectives and broaden their cultural horizons.
